As 2017 passes us by, one thing for sure is the world that we know is cha
nging.
Sometimes the change is within our control, but most often it’s not. Our jobs or roles change — and not always for the better.
Like the chameleons which have evolved to change color to suits its environment we too could learn and incorporate new skills and attitude that we could use to navigate through different situation and difficult circumstances.
And one of the better ways to adapt to changes is best summed up by Socrates-“The secret of change is to focus all your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”
One of the challenges to adapt to new environment stems from our fixation to the norm. We are creatures of habits and therefore anything that disrupts “our way” of doing or seeing things will not always be welcome. Hence Socrates is brilliant in sharing his thoughts on this matter because when we focus our resources and talent on learning new skills and adopt a new frame of mind; we shall be better off in capitalizing new opportunity and in facing new challenges that comes our way.
